Testing At LabX

Testing with LabX is fast, easy and transparent.

Our testing helps providers meet regulatory compliance requirements and gives patients and recreational users the confidence that the products they’ll be consuming are safe and contain the cannabinoids or other constituents they are seeking.

Potency Testing

Cannabinoids

A cannabinoid profile is considered the primary measure of product potency, as cannabinoids play a significant role in producing the physiological effects that result from cannabis consumption.

Terpenes

A terpene profile is another measure of product potency, as many terpenes are believed to produce physiological effects and contribute to the “Entourage Effect” of cannabis consumption.

Safety Screens

Pesticides

All cannabis products sold in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, or the raw material used to make them, must be screened for non-organic pesticides and growth regulators that have been banned by the DPH. Screens for banned substances must show concentrations lower than 10 parts per billion (ppb).

Heavy Metals

All cannabis products sold in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, or the raw material used to make them, must be analyzed to determine the presence and concentration of certain heavy metals. The presence of each metal must be shown to be below the allowable limit in micrograms, which varies from metal to metal.

Residual Solvents

Screening for residual solvents is required only for cannabis products made using a solvent-based extraction method. The amount of residual solvent left in a cannabis concentrate must be shown to be below the allowable limit in milligrams, which varies for each applicable solvent.

Microbiological Analysis

The presence of various bacteria and pathogens must be shown to be below the allowable limit of colony forming units per gram or not present in any amount depending on the organism’s suitability for human consumption.

Mycotoxins

All cannabis products sold in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and the raw material used to make them, must be screened for mycotoxins. The presence of any toxin must be shown to be below the allowable limit of 20 micrograms per kilogram of material.

Vitamin E Acetate

Vitamin E acetate is an additive that can be found in some vape products. This screen will detect the presence of this particular substance.
